Joining the GBKA

Apiary Click here for an application form. Annual subscriptions run from November 1st to October 31st.

The Full Membership subscription includes the capitation allowance for the BBKA. This supports the work done at national level by BBKA and also gives beekeeping members third party insurance. The basic subscription also includes Bee Disease Insurance for 3 hives; you have to pay more to be covered for more than 3.

Associate Membership is designed for people who have no bees. Our Associate Members include beginners who have not yet started, partners of beekeepers who enjoy our meetings, retired beekeepers who wish to keep up to date with news and events, and others who simply want to support our charitable work.

A newsletter is sent to every member at least 10 times a year. This aims to keep members up to date with what is going on in beekeeping in the county and further afield. It attempts to highlight the problems and solutions that beekeeping is currently facing. Contributions from members help to keep it interesting and topical and any comments help to make it a members’ letter. There is always a page of advertisements from suppliers of beekeeping equipment, and members can place small advertisements in a copy free of charge. Past issues are stored in the library, and the last 12 months are available on the website.

Full Members also receive the BBKA’s newsletter 6 times a year. This contains valuable information about beekeeping in the country and demonstrates the work BBKA do for beekeeping both nationally and internationally.
